Beckenham Festival Musician of the Year
2021 Festival - We have taken the difficult decision to cancel this year's Musician of the Year event due to the logistical complexities of running the event whilst adhering to all current Covid-19 safety measures.
Some of the Festival’s most outstanding music competitors are invited to enter the Musician of the Year event at the end of the Festival. Held on the final Sunday of the Festival, each competitor performs for a maximum of 10 minutes before an adjudicating panel, and will receive a certificate and a medal. The winner will receive a special trophy, the Tom and Pat Sowerby Award, and a cash prize of £100. The Maxine Kwok and Daniel Bates Cup will be awarded to an outstanding string or woodwind player. Admission is free and the public are warmly invited to attend.
A number of Musician of the Year winners have forged very successful musical careers, for example, playing in the LSO, the Aurora Orchestra, and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
