Welcome to the website for
Competitions in Music and Dancing
Held on weekends in November each year
Beckenham Festival is one of the largest amateur competitive performing arts festivals in the south-east of England. There are around 400 classes in Music and Dancing, with specialist adjudicators in all sections. As well as certificates and medals there are over 200 cups and trophies to be won. A “Musician of the Year” competition is held on the final Sunday, and the Festival acts as a qualifying heat for the All-England Dance Competition.
Beckenham Festival is affiliated to The British and International Federation of Festivals of which
Her Majesty the Queen is Patron.
This year the Festival will be held at Marian Vian Primary School, Beckenham; Harris
St. George’s Church, Beckenham; and St. James’ Church, Elmers End.
This website now shows full details of the 2014 Festival, and each section of the syllabus can be downloaded in PDF format from this website. Entry forms can be downloaded from each section’s page. Hard copies of the syllabus will be published in June and will be available free from London Borough of Bromley libraries and music shops or from the Festival organisers.
For information on how the Festival is run please go to the Frequently Asked Questions page.
We regret there are currently no Speech and Drama classes, and would be happy to hear from anyone who might be willing to take on running this section of the Festival.
